Making a Bequest

Sample Wording for your Attorney

Your Legacy of Hope For Future Generations
of Homeless & Hungry Men, Women and Children

WHY AND HOW TO MAKE A BEQUEST IN YOUR WILL

WHY
“We make a living by what we get.  We make a life by what we give.  You create a legacy by what you leave.”

In recent years, we have experienced a trend where a growing number of Hope Ministries’ donors have been inquiring about the specific wording to include a charitable legacy (bequest) in their will, trust or beneficiary designation.

You can imagine how blessed we are when people understand that the need for their current support will be no less the day they pass.

Naturally, we encourage donors to plan their estate distribution to reflect the needs of their loved ones first and foremost.  What we’re finding however is that more often people feel prompted to send a stewardship message to the next generation by remembering some of those worthy causes they’ve supported during their lifetime.

We want to personally invite you to consider remembering those who are homeless and hungry by sharing a portion of your estate with Hope Ministries.

We would be blessed if someday we found out that you made it a priority to bless the most vulnerable beyond your lifetime.

HOW: Bequest Language

We invite you to provide the following sample wording to your legal or other professional advisor to name Hope Ministries in your will and/or beneficiary designations.

“I, [Full Name], of [City, State, Zip], give, devise and bequeath [state the amount or percentage of the estate or description of the property] to Hope Ministries in Des Moines, Iowa, tax ID# 42-1512992 for its unrestricted use and purpose and the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal.”

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE HOPE MINISTRIES TO USE YOUR BEQUEST?
We want to honor your desires for your ultimate bequest gift to Hope Ministries. Your desires for the ultimate use of your bequest can be directed to our general operating fund or to our Endowment Fund or split between the two funds. Our online Statement of Intent form is available for you to provide direction for your planned gift.
